July 2022 – The High Representative of the Coalition for the Sahel travels to Niger

The High Representative of the Coalition for the Sahel, Dr. Djimé Adoum, was received by Mr. Mahamadou Issoufou, former President of Niger, new mediator for the transition of Burkina Faso appointed by ECOWAS and in charge of the Joint Strategic Assessment of the Security and Governance Situation in the Sahel commissioned by the UN and the African Union. Their exchange covered the regional situation in the Sahel where they explored possibilities for deeper cooperation. Together they reaffirmed the importance of ensuring coherence of various initiatives in the region, an objective that is at the heart of the Sahel Coalition.

 

The High Representative was also received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Niger, H.E. Hassoumi Massaoudou. Dr Djime Adoum thanked him for Niger’s support to the recent review of the Coalition’s Roadmap. The discussion also provided an opportunity to discuss regional developments.
