The High Representative’s trip to Madrid

From 15 to 18 July 2025, the High Representative of the Coalition for the Sahel, His Excellency Mr Hamadi Meimou, visited Madrid for consultations with the Spanish authorities. Spain, as a steadfast partner, plays a central role within the Coalition in advancing development and security in the Sahel.

On 15 July, the High Representative was received by His Excellency Mr Alberto Cerezo Sobrino, Special Envoy for the Sahel, and Ms Ximena Bartolomé, Director-General for Africa. The exchanges underscored the importance of sustained international mobilisation in support of the Sahel.

From 16 to 18 July, His Excellency Mr Hamadi Meimou participated in the 5th edition of the Sahel–Europe Forum, organised by the Centre for International Security of the Centre for Global Common Good at Francisco de Vitoria University. Since its launch in 2021, the Forum has convened Sahelian and international experts to promote dialogue and foster joint research on regional challenges.
